"Look, guys. No matter what a girl does, no matter how she’s dressed, no matter how much she’s had to drink, it’s never, never, never, never, never okay to touch her without her consent. That doesn’t make you a man, it makes you a coward."
— Vice President Joe “the BAMF” Biden, in a speech launching the federal government’s campaign to fight sexual violence on college campuses (via girl-non-grata)

If Mr Brightside ever starts playing, and you don’t stop everything you’re doing and sing at the top of your lungs, you aren’t living life properly.

"Free speech as a legal concept only guarantees you the right to speak. It doesn’t guarantee you the right to be heard, it doesn’t guarantee you the right to be agreed with, it certainly doesn’t guarantee you the right for your speech to not be challenged by someone else’s speech, and most importantly of all, it doesn’t mean you can’t suffer consequences if and when your free speech is used to cause harm to someone. Which is exactly what sexual harassment, racial slurs, and verbal bigotry are. That’s not censorship. That’s fairness."

I worked at a Baptist summer camp over the summer. Every week (to my disgust) they’d tell the kids that Christians were the only group of people to truly do good deeds. They taught that as Christians they were called to “show God’s love” and because of this, they are the only group in the world who do good deeds with no ulterior motive. They legitimately believed that every non-christian who did good was only doing so in the hopes that they’d receive something in return.
To that I say: Bull crap. Every good person is going to be a good person regardless of their religious affiliation.

"As an atheist, I see nothing “wrong” in believing in a God. I don’t think there is a God, but belief in him does no harm. If it helps you in any way, then that’s fine with me. It’s when belief starts infringing on other people’s rights when it worries me. I would never deny your right to believe in a God. I would just rather you didn’t kill people who believe in a different God, say. Or stone someone to death because your rulebook says their sexuality is immoral. It’s strange that anyone who believes that an all-powerful all-knowing, omniscient power responsible for everything that happens, would also want to judge and punish people for what they are."
